Hi everyone, the April showers are turning into May flowers as the country is starting to heat up. This season has seen a ton of parody as the even the Dodgers are showing some weaknesses. Let’s take a look at where we have the teams ranked as we move into the end of the first Quarter of the Season.
Cellar Dwellers
30. Tigers 8-21 5th in AL Central, LW 30
A rough weekend in the Bronx as the Tigers are in a 1-10 stretch or 6-21 since they started the Season 2-0
29. Rockies 10-18 5th in NL West, LW 29
The Rockies are far behind the rest of the Division but at least Trevor Story is heating up. Trevor hit four home runs this past week.
28. Pirates 12-16 5th in NL Central, LW 17
The Pirates have come back down to earth with a really rough weekend Series Vs St Louis. The Pirates aren’t as bad as experts were pegging though.
27. Marlins 11-16 5th in NL East, LW 22
The Marlins are the only team in the NL East with a positive run differential but still sit in last place after a rough 1-4 week.
26. Rangers 13-17 5th in AL West, LW 28
The Rangers won three out of four from Boston over the Weekend and are playing better baseball. Still a rebuilding year in the Lone Star State.
25. Cubs 12-16 4th in NL Central, LW 21
Kris Bryant is absolutely raking this season. He will be one of the best trade candidates for a team likely to clean house this trade deadline.
The bottom of the middle
24. Twins 11-16 4th in AL Central, LW 27
The Twins had a better weekend taking a series from the Royals. Still a lot of talent here and time for the Twinkies to get back in this thing.
23. Braves 12-16 4th in NL East, LW 18
The Braves have been a disappointment so far this season as there has been no consistency. Freddie Freeman striking out against Anthony Rizzo was funny.
22. Orioles 14-15 5th in AL East, LW 25
The Orioles winning Series from the Athletics shows how hard they are playing so far this season. Just not enough talent to hold up for entire season.
21. Reds 13-14 3rd in NL Central, LW 23
The Reds can certainly mash, with Castellanos, Suarez, Moustakes, Winker and Votto this team is built for the band box ballpark they play in.
20. Angels 13-14 4th in AL West, LW 11
The Angels are the ultimate stars and scrubs team. Trout and Ohtani are amazing, two of the best, but the pitching is a major concern.
19. Mets 11-12 3rd in NL East, LW 10
Jacob Degrom is 2-2 with a 0.51 ERA. For the record how is that possible? The Mets offense and no Degrom pitching has not been very good.
The Middle Tier
18. Phillies 14-15 2nd in NL East, LW 13
There has been a lot of good with the Phillies so far but the bullpen has been outside of Hector Neris and Sam Coonrod absolutely abysmal.
17. Nationals 12-12 1st in NL East, LW 24
The NL East is so crowded and subpar the Nationals had one good week and vaulted from last to first. Max Scherzer threw another gem on Sunday.
16. Rays 15-15 3rd in AL East, LW 16
Tyler Glasnow threw another great game on Monday. His stuff is among the top 5 win baseball with a triple digits heater and wipeout hook.
15. Yankees 14-14 2nd in AL East, LW 26
All it takes to get going is the Detroit Tigers to come to town. The run prevention is still there as the Yankees team ERA is a stellar 3.02.
14. Mariners 16-14 3rd in AL West, LW 9
The Mariners descend down the rankings continues after a rough series in Houston. This week is the Orioles and Rangers so maybe a bounce back?
13. Indians 14-13 3rd in AL Central, LW 20
The Indians are a roller coaster. I had them at 13, then 20 and no 13 again. The other Biebs (Shane Bieber) has been a strikeout machine thus far.
12. Diamondback 15-13 4th in NL West, LW 15
The Dbacks are 10-3 over their past 13 but still sit as the 4th best team in the best division in baseball thus far. Madison Bumgarner’s redemption continues.
11. Blue Jays 14-13 2nd in AL East, LW 19
The dominating series over the Braves was an encouraging sign for one of the more fun teams to watch in 2020. Vlad Guerrero Jr. is absolutely mashing.
The Contenders
10. Astros 15-13 2nd in AL West, LW 14
The roller coaster ride known as the Houston Astros continue. A 6-1 start, then a 1-9 stretch, and now a 8-3 stretch even after Monday’s loss.
9. White Sox 15-12 2nd in AL Central, LW 8
Lucas Giolito has been very underwhelming so far this season with a 1-3 record and a 4.99 ERA. He is too good to pitch like that all season long.
8. Royals 16-11 1st in AL Central, LW 5
The Royals have hit a little bit of a speed bump over the past few days with a series loss in Minnesota and a opening loss to the Indians, still great start.
7. Cardinals 17-12 2nd in NL Central, LW 12
The Cards have been creeping up the Power Rankings all season and all it took was a weekend trip to Pittsburgh to get them there, solid all around team.
6. Giants 17-11 1st in NL West, LW 3
Giants are in first place and dropped in the Rankings why so? They had a .500 week and lost a series in San Diego. Pitching is great and keeps them in games.
5. Padres 17-13 3rd in NL West, LW 7
We are having the Padres jump the Giants due to winning two out of three over the weekend. Eric Hosmer off to a solid start hitting .299 with good defense.
4. Red Sox 17-12 1st in AL East, LW 4
The Red Sox had a rough weekend in Texas but still sit atop the division. J.D Martinez assault continues. That contract he signed back in 2018 was a steal.
3. Dodgers 17-12 2nd in NL West, LW 1
The Dodgers have the top run differential in baseball but a 4-10 stretch cannot be ignored. Plus the injuries are piling up, the Dodgers are beatable after all.
2. Brewers 17-12 1st in NL Central, LW 6
Going 6-1 against the Padres and Dodgers over the past two weeks is going to force us to give you a jump. Burnes and Woodruff are quite the 1,2 punch
1.Athletics 18-12 1st in AL West, LW 2
1-7 start all the way to first in the Power Rankings within a months time. Winning 13 in a row and having one of the most balanced rosters in game helps.
