Week 14 Football Power Rankings

Hi everyone, you need an intro? No didn’t think so, let’s get to it!!

32. Texans 1-11 (Projected Record 2-11, Drew Rating: -15.01) LW: 32

Valiant effort by the Texans but they did what they should do and that is lose at Dallas on Sunday. It is tough to root for your team to lose but at this point and time it is the best thing for team Tejas. They can still afford to win one more game possibly two if you think the Bears or Broncos won’t finish 0-4. But Lovie Smith going for it on 4th and goal at the Cowboys 4 late in the defeat was pretty dumb.

31. Bears 3-10 (Projected Record 4-9, Drew Rating: -7.30) LW: 30

The Bears even though on a bye with the magic of Baker Mayfield drop down to the number 31 spot in the Power Rankings. The Cards, Colts and Rams being down here was certainly a surprise but if you ask a lot of football fans and experts who the worst two teams in football would be in 2022, a common answer would be the Bears and Texans. So no surprise the adult Bears are this low in the ranking

30. Broncos 3-10 (Projected Record 5-8, Drew Rating: -3.51) LW: 29

Even in games the Donkeys score they still lose. They didn’t just lose the game but they also lost Russell Wilson to a concussion that may sideline him for the annual NFL apathetic fan base bowl (which this years participants is the Broncos Vs the Cardinals). It is a shame as late in the first half Russell Wilson and Jerry Jeudy seemed to find something. Nathaniel Hackett has 4 more games left.

29. Rams 4-9 (Projected Record 4-9, Drew Rating: -10.41) LW: 31

Baker Baker comeback makers!!! The Vikings beating the Bills was pretty improbable, Patrick Mahomes throwing a sideways 56 yard touchdown pass was pretty ridiculous. But nothing was more improbable and ridiculous than a 13 point 4th Quarter comeback capped off with a 98 yard drive by a guy who had been on the roster for less than 48 hours. If that is the last great Baker moment, idios amio.

28. Cardinals 4-9 (Projected Record 4-9, Drew Rating: -10.37) LW: 27

What an ending to Hard Knocks in season and Kyler Murray’s season. The Rams are having the season from hell but most people (myself included) believe the Rams will bounce back next year. The Cardinals have had a franchise altering season. A franchise that looked to have a promising future is now appearing like they could be heading into the abyss with no direction and no future, just sad.

27. Colts 4-8 (Projected Record 4-9, Drew Rating: -10.18) LW: 28

The Colts come out of their bye week with actually a glimmer of hope to win their division. You think I’m kidding here is what they need to do. Beat the Vikings (possible, worst 10-3 team ever??), beat the Chargers (of course they always choke late in seasons), beat the Giants (they are fading faster than the evening sun) and the Texans (or the worst team in football), don’t laugh this all could happen.

26. Saints 4-9 (Projected Record 6-7, Drew Rating: -2.96) LW: 25

Could the Saints go 8-9 and win the NFC South. Well they need Tampa to lose three of four (not likely with their cake schedule). But the Saints could also go crazy and win their final four. Falcons, Browns, Eagles (possibly resting if they Beat Dallas) and Panthers. Not the most brutal schedule. But I somehow think its more likely Matt Ryan pulls a late push out of his ass over Andy Dalton, just facts.

25. Steelers 5-8 (Projected Record 4-9, Drew Rating: -7.21) LW: 23

Welp the Burgh kind of blew that game. Statistically the Burgh dominated the Ravens on Sunday but Mitch Trubisky in relief does with Mitch generally does and that is crap the toilet in a 16-14 loss to their arch rivaled Ravens. Now they have to go 4-0 or 3-0-1 down the stretch to keep the Tomlin streak alive. This is likely not going to happen as I think they lose the suddenly surging Panthers on Sunday.

24. Panthers 5-8 (Projected Record 5-8, Drew Rating: -6.98) LW: 26

Can you believe that the Panthers still have a shot to win their division but they are 3-1 in the division and already beat Tampa. So if they go down to the pirate ship and pull the upset on New Years Day the Cats would almost certainly control their own destiny. But for the fighting Darnold’s to have a chance they have to take care of business against a suddenly banged up Steelers team, don’t blow it cat

23. Falcons 5-8 (Projected Record 5-8, Drew Rating: -4.77) LW: 22

You know you have been playing like cow dung if you are getting benched before a big game that could alter your season. But that is where we are at right now with Marcus Mariotta getting benched for Desmond Ridder. I think the Falcons have a real shot to win at New Orleans with Ridder at QB as well. Unlike Carolina the Falcons will not even with a win over the Bucs so they have to pass them.

22. Browns 5-8 (Projected Record 6-7, Drew Rating: -3.36) LW: 18

The upstanding citizen has been rusty as expected. Because of this any hope of a season revival how probably died with their loss at Cincy on Sunday. However, the Brownies do get a huge break playing the Ravens on a short week. That means Lamar Jackson will likely miss this game. Which in turns means the Brownies have a very good chance to get back in the win column, still a lost season.

21. Raiders 5-8 (Projected Record 6-7, Drew Rating: -2.09) LW: 20

Terrible loss for Vegas. They had to be kicking themselves all weekend seeing that this game against the Pats on Sunday could have been for the right to get the 7th and final playoff spot in the AFC. Now the Vaders will just be trying to play spoiler which I like them to do. That’s all the Raiders have been good for the last 20 years. Ruining their own party and then ruining someone else as well, tragic.

20. Packers 5-8 (Projected Record 6-7, Drew Rating: -1.99) LW: 19

The Packers actually still have a slim chance on making the playoffs. This is what has to happen down the stretch. The Packers need to win all four games (possibly three of the four are at home in games the Packers will be favored in). Then they need either the Giants or Commanders to go 1-3 (loser of that game likely will) and Seattle to also go 2-2 (but beat either the Jets or Chiefs), Rodgers miracle

19. Jaguars 5-8 (Projected Record 6-7, Drew Rating: -.67) LW: 19

The Jags get the biggest jump this week and their playoff chances are seriously realistic. Especially if they upset the Cowboys this week. They have to go 2-1 in their next three (mainly split with the Cowboys and Jets) and hope the Titans lose to the Chargers and Cowboys. This is also very possible, isn’t this fun to go over possible miracle playoff scenarios. I am seriously enjoying all of this.

18. Bucs 6-7 (Projected Record 5-8, Drew Rating: -4.28) LW: 16

Man was that ugly, it was a Purdy performance by the Niners but not for the Bucs. The Bucs just look like an unmitigated mess. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Bucs run the table as I think this past game was rock bottom but what if it wasn’t? What if Tom Brady has at age 45 given up on a season? What if Todd Bowles really is incapable of emotion. What if it really is not butter? I have questions!!

17. Lions 6-7 (Projected Record 6-7, Drew Rating: -2.45) LW: 21

Welp my Lions only need 1 more win to get the over for this season. I must say why did I ever give up on the Lions. They were 1-6 and just got outscored 53-6 in a two game stretch. Jared Goff looked like he would never be an NFL starter again. They they beat Rodgers in an ugly game, came back at Chicago, beat the fraudulent Giants and Vikings and they are now in the wildcard hunt, go get em Danny.

16. Chargers 7-6 (Projected Record 5-8, Drew Rating: -4.74) LW: 17

The point differential is minus 31, they are still averaging almost a full yard per play allowed over gained. This is statistically and metrically not a good football team. They are still poorly coached. They still do two or three dumbfounding things every game. However, Justin Herbert has ascended himself into the second tier of NFL QB hierarchy and because of him alone they should get in.

15. Giants 7-5 (Projected Record 5-8, Drew Rating: -4.18) LW: 13

Even when this Giants team was 6-1 nobody believed in them. It is certainly looking more and more like that victory over the hapless Texans could be the last game this Giants team win this season. The only saving grace is if they find a way to win at Washington on Sunday night even the free fall they have had as of late won’t be enough to keep the Gigantes out of the playoff field, still not dead yet.

14. Titans 7-6 (Projected Record 6-7, Drew Rating: -2.25) LW: 12

The Titans are going to wrong way as they have lost three in a row. The issue with the last two games is their pass defense is getting shredded like mozzarella you put on your pizza pie. The good news is the AFC South is just awful this year so if the Titans can just get to 9 wins they will assuredly still win their division. But this team is as threatening as a litter of golden retriever puppies, not good.

13. Commanders 7-5 (Projected Record 6-7, Drew Rating: -1.53) LW: 14

The football team has still only lost once since the middle of October and if they can beat the Giants on Sunday night they almost are a lock to make the postseason. They do still need to take care of business at home because if they don’t all this midseason Taylor Heinicke love could disappear quicker than a magician with a handkerchief. I’ll keep saying Ron Rivera coach of year should be heard.

12. Jets 7-6 (Projected Record 7-6, Drew Rating: 1.38) LW: 11

Yes the Jets are still lingering, yes the Jets have four games that could realistically go either way. The spreads in all four of these games will be a field goal or less. So Mike White could make himself a colt hero or the Jets may be making calls to try to move up in the draft or acquire a QB via trade. Shall I interest you in Derek Carr. He will be the best dude on market and with this d, just saying..

11. Seahawks 7-6 (Projected Record 7-6, Drew Rating: 3.08) LW: 10

The Hawks are fading fast. They have an impossible two stretch coming up as well, Vs San Fran and at Kansas City. So the once darlings of football are likely going to be 7-8 going into a final two game stretch against the Jets and Rams. This team even getting to 8 wins is a success story. It’s Geno freaking Smith friends. This team was supposed to win three games, so this season is a success.

10. Patriots 7-6 (Projected Record 8-5, Drew Rating: 4.06) LW: 15

The Pats I think will lose in Vegas this week and it will be almost all she wrote for this season. But me even writing this seems ridiculous. Bill Belichick is still the greatest coach ever. Come on he has a failed defensive coordinator calling his offensive plays. Is playing mostly rookies and second year guys all along this roster. This team isn’t very good yet if they make the playoffs, #Billislegend

9. Dolphins 8-5 (Projected Record 7-6, Drew Rating: .89) LW: 9

Outside of yards per play this Dolphins team is not very good in any metric offensively or defensively. Tua went 10-28 for 145 yards indoors against a defense Geno Smith and Davis Mills lit up this season. Yeah, this Dolphins team has talent but I am going to be honest here. The Quarterback is holding them back and will continue to hold them back, I’m out on Tua and they could miss the dance

8. Ravens 9-4 (Projected Record 9-4, Drew Rating: 8.95) LW: 7

The Ravens won at Pittsburgh and have been going through this favorable stretch winning games but I think everyone will agree this team has suffered for the second straight season too many injuries. The difference between this year and last the birds will almost certainly still make the playoffs but without a healthy Lamar and skill position players this team is a one and done story, feel for Lamar.

7. Bengals 9-4 (Projected Record 9-4, Drew Rating: 9.46) LW: 8

This is the far more dangerous AFC North team. This is everyone’s darkhorse to win it all to the point that they aren’t even a darkhorse anymore. They need to run the table on a very difficult schedule and have the Chiefs lose to maybe the Raiders (I don’t see another potential loss on their schedule) to have a shot at the one seed. Kevin McCallister is always tough to go against during the holidays.

6. 49ers 9-4 (Projected Record 11-2, Drew Rating: 15.86) LW: 6

If Brock Purdy plays like he did on Sunday there is no team outside of God Mode Patrick Mahomes Chiefs that can beat this team. The scary thing is the last loss by this Niners team was when Mahomes did go god mode. Seriously, outside of Baker Mayfield last Thursday night is there anything more impressive this season than Patrick Mahomes putting 44 on this defense. S.F/K.C rematch??

5. Vikings 10-3 (Projected Record 6-7, Drew Rating: -1.12) LW: 2

I always put wins as the be all end all but this is the only reason why the Vikings are at 5 instead of around the 10-12 range where they more have played like this year. The Vikings are still 9-0 in one score games as the Lions kicked a semi meaningless field goal to ensure their loss in Detroit was not of the one score variety. Hey they will still be hosting a playoff game so say it Kirk C, you like that!

4. Chiefs 10-3 (Projected Record 10-3, Drew Rating: 11.91) LW: 5

The Chefs went up 27-0 and then Patrick Mahomes decided to piss away his MVP award in the span of two hours in a game that might be the most frustrating win in the Patrick Mahomes era. Mahomes in God mode is still going to beat any team anywhere but what if Mahomes is just simply good. I have concerns here especially with the defense. Giving up 28 to the Donkeys should scare anyone.

3. Bills 10-3 (Projected Record 11-2, Drew Rating: 16.28) LW: 4

The Bills got a workman like 20-12 win over the Jets on Sunday but the metrics don’t lie this team is not as dominating as the outfit from earlier this year or even from last year. But a team that has gone from 0-6 in one score games to 5-3 the following season will take it. Next is a chance to seal up the AFC East with a win over the Phins in snowy Buffalo mind you, yeah Bills should win that game.

2. Cowboys 10-3 (Projected Record 11-2, Drew Rating: 16.84) LW: 3

It’s hard for me to rise the Cowboys in the rankings after surviving a potential embarrassing loss to the Texans but when the boys needed a 96 yard drive to win it they got it. But even with the Cowboys scoring 24 or more every game since Dak Prescott returned (when they only accomplished that once in their first six games), Dak still does not look like the same QB? Maybe I’m skeptical, tell me

1.Eagles 12-1 (Projected Record 12-2, Drew Rating: 20.91) LW: 1

The Eagles just keep separating themselves from the league. I thought the Giants would give the green birds a game but boy was I wrong. This team is elite on both lines and corner. Plus they have the best rushing attack in football. What does that mean the Eagles can build a lead and control the clock. You know that that does make the other team throw against a team that is very tough to throw on. This team feels leaps and bounds above the league right now. Win in Dallas in Week 16 and the East and 1 seed is a wrap.
