Baseball Power Rankings Week 12

Hi everyone, I am very busy this week but that wasn’t going to stop me from releasing my Week 12 MLB Power Rankings. We are midway through June and heading near the All Star break. A lot of clarity in baseball and more to come over coming weeks.

Bad Baseball Teams

30. Diamondbacks 20-47 5th in NL West, LW: 30

11 losses in a row, 20 road losses in a row. Amidst a 2-24 stretch. The core is mostly intact from 2019 as well (an 85 win team), time to make changes.

29. Orioles 22-43 5th in AL West, LW: 29

Outside of a series win against the Twins it’s been a very brutal stretch for the Orioles. Unlike the Dbacks this type of futility was expected in Baltimore.

28. Pirates 23-41 5th in NL Central, LW: 26

I was so confident that the Pirates was going to get the over 58 wins they went 0-6 last week to shut me up. Guys forgetting to touch first base on HR.

27. Rangers 25-41 5th in AL West, LW: 28

The Rangers were able to end their road losing streak at 16 on Saturday against reigning Cy Young award winner Trevor Bauer no less, small victories in life.

26. Rockies 26-41 4th in NL West, LW: 27

21-14 at home after a Monday victory over the Padres. Yet they are 5-27 on the road to be where they are, even with 20 L’s in a row, Az better road record.

25. Twins 26-40 5th in AL Central LW: 24

The core is mostly intact from a 101 win team that hit over 300 homers in 2019. Issue is in the year of the pitcher the Twins don’t have any pitching.

Mediocre Baseball teams

24. Tigers 27-39 4th in AL Central, LW: 25

The Tigers are 19-14 over their last 33 games and have looked like a very competent baseball team over the past month and a half, deserves to jump up.

23. Marlins 29-37 5th in NL East, LW: 22

The Marlins have a plus 4 run differential but the late game relief has been an issue throughout the year. Jesus Aguilar is the Marlins likely All Star this year.

22. Nationals 28-35 4th in NL East, LW: 23

The Nationals keep toiling in mediocrity as we are well over 1/3 of the way in. Remember they did start 19-31 in 2019 so maybe they still make a move?

21. Royals 30-35 3rd in AL Central, LW: 16

My a lot can change in 8 days. Last week the Royals were over .500 and still in the hunt but a 1-7 stretch has them looking like sellers at the deadline again.

20. Braves 30-33 3rd in NL East, LW: 17

The Braves are one of the most disappointing teams in baseball as they still struggle to find any sort of consistency, or maybe consistently mediocre is it.

19. Mariners 33-35 4th in AL West, LW: 19

The Mariners remain around .500 even though all metrics say the Mariners are a bad baseball team. We all know nothing ever makes sense with the M’s.

Meh to Okay Baseball teams

18. Phillies 32-32 2nd in NL East, LW: 20

Nice week for the Phillies as they win two quick games from the reeling Yankees over the weekend. The Mets are pulling away a bit though gotta hang on,.

17. Angels 33-33 3rd in AL West, LW: 21

All the Angels needed was a series against the historically bad Dbacks to get themselves back to .500 and in the mix, that Ohtani guy is pretty good huh?

16. Cardinals 33-33 3rd in NL Central, LW: 15

The Cards have sunk all the way down to .500 as they are the epitome of an average baseball team, beat up on the bad teams and get beat by good teams.

15. Yankees 33-32 4th in AL East, LW: 14

After 65 games you are what you are and the Yankees have the talent to go on a run but this team flat out just can’t hit, Aaron Judge is excluded from this.

14. Blue Jays 33-31 3rd in AL East, LW: 13

Vladimir Guerrero continues his hall of fame season hitting bombs out of Olympic stadium and has a stat line of .346 22 HR and 56 RBI, oh wait wrong Vlad.

13. Reds 33-31 3rd in NL Central, LW: 18

Nick Castellanos is showing that shockingly big contact he got from the Reds was worth the money. Hitting a major league best .357 and slugging .626.

12. Indians 35-28 2nd in AL Central, LW: 12

Justin (I mean Shane) Bieber has been up and down this season but he is proving to be one of the best workhorses in baseball, 130 K’s in 90.2 innings IP.

11. Padres 38-30 3rd in NL West, LW: 5

The Padres are in a funk right now losing 7 of 10. Plus I have to drop you out of the top tier when you get shut down by the throw in the Arenado deal.

Good Baseball Teams

10. Mets 33-25 1st in NL East, LW: 11

Jacob Degrom’s ERA is down to 0.56 and WHIP is 0.53. On average in a 6 inning start Degrom is giving up 3 baserunners total, this is getting ridiculous.

9. Astros 37-28 2nd in AL West, LW: 9

Michael Brantley is one of the most underrated hitters of this generation. He is hitting .337 this season and has 8 years of hitting .299 or better in career.

8. Brewers 38-28 2nd in NL Central, LW: 10

The Brewers are hitting .212 as a baseball team and outside of Christian Yelich has no hitter you would fear but yet are 10 games over .500, pitching rules!

7. Cubs 38-28 1st in NL Central, LW: 8

Craig Kimbrel was an unmitigated disaster in his first two seasons in the Windy City but this season as ERA of 0.66 and is 18 of 20 in his save chances.

6. Red Sox 40-27 2nd in AL East, LW: 4

The Red Sox went 4-4 in the past week including an 18-4 drubbing at the hands of the Blue Jays on Saturday. That will knock you down two spots.

5. Athletics 41-27 1st in AL West, LW: 7

The A’s are taking advantage of a Dbacks, Royals and Angels homestand going 6-1 thus far. The bullpen is still excellent so a lead is safe most nights.

4. Dodgers 40-26 2nd in NL West, LW: 6

The injuries are piling up in L.A but the elite starting pitching remains primarily healthy. Mookie Betts is having a down year for him thus far, won’t last.

3. Giants 41-25 1st in NL West, LW: 2

Kevin Gausman (a pitcher with great stuff but career underachiever) is having a cy young (in a non Degrom world) season thus far, 7-1 1.43 ERA 0.78 WHIP.

2. White Sox 41-25 1st in AL Central, LW: 3

I was considering putting them at #1 but they lost the first game of a big series against the Rays. Outscored the Tigers 23-7 in a sweep over the weekend.

1.Rays 43-24 1st in AL East, LW: 1

The Rays are 24-5 in their last 29 games has more power arms than most All Star teams, has by far the #1 farm system in all of baseball, T.B indeed title town
