Baseball Power Rankings Week 6

Hi everyone, we are officially into the 6th week of our baseball power rankings. There is even more clarity into who is good and who is not. This usually happens every May. Let’s get into the rankings shall we.

Cellar Dwellers

30. Tigers 15-26 4th in AL Central, LW: 30

The Tigers have played better as of late. Looking to pull themselves off a previous pace of 100 losses.

29. Twins 13-26 5th in AL Central, LW: 27

The Twins won 101 games and hit over 300 homeruns just two years ago. Boy does that seem like a long long ago.

28. Rockies 15-27 5th in NL West, LW: 29

The Rockies are 2-15 on the road now. They are 13-12 at home. If only the Rockies can play all their games in the Mile High City.

27. Pirates 17-23 5th in NL Central. LW: 28

The over is still looking really good for the Pirates this season. Adam Frazier is a solid underrated baseball player.

26. Orioles 17-23 5th in AL East, LW: 25

The Orioles are certainly playing out the string this season. That being said the Orioles have not been an easy out for any team they have played.

25. Diamondbacks 18-24 4th in NL West, LW: 23

The Dbacks injury luck has become absolutely ridiculous at this point. They could officially be buried if they lose all four to the Dodgers.

Staring into the Abyss

24. Nationals 16-21 5th in NL East, LW: 24

The Nationals with the big name players on this roster are a colossal disappointment this year. Their World Series run looks even more improbable.

23. Rangers 19-24 5th in AL West, LW: 21

The Rangers have been the ultimate zig and zag baseball team in 2021. One week they go 5-1 and the next week they go 0-6

22. Royals 18-22 3rd in AL Central, LW: 20

The 16-9 start for the Royals appears to be at a different time. The Royals have crashed back to earth with a 2-13 record since the great start.

21. Marlins 18-22 4th in NL East, LW: 26

Marlins held their own on a West Coast trip to Arizona and Los Angeles. Jesus Aguilar is absolutely mashing the baseball right now.

20. Angels 18-22 4th in AL West, LW: 22

Albert Pujols on the Dodgers now is certainly a weird thing to see. Mike Trout’s injury was ill timed even in a recent slump was having a great year.

19. Braves 19-22 3rd in NL East, LW: 17

It may be time to panic in Atlanta. The only thing keeping them from panicking is the Mets and Phillies aren’t running away and hiding quite yet.

The Middle Tier

18. Reds 19-20 4th in NL Central, LW: 18

Jesus Castellanos and Jesse Winker are both having monster seasons. But the pitching (especially the bullpen) has let this team down.

17. Mariners 21-21 3rd in AL West, LW: 16

The Mariners are hitting .203 as a team. The M’s are so offensively challenged they certainly could threaten to hit below .200 as a team this year.

16. Cubs 20-20 3rd in NL Central, LW: 19

The Cubs are treading water led by a fantastic season from Kris Bryant and the ultimate boom or bust potential from Javier Baez.

15. Phillies 21-20 2nd in NL East, LW: 15

The Phillies have consistently been right in the middle of the Power Rankings. You can call it inconsistent, I call it consistently average.

14. Brewers 21-20 2nd in NL Central, LW: 8

The Brewers have fallen from a cliff over the past couple of weeks. The offense has surprisingly not been very good this season.

13. Indians 21-18 2nd in AL Central, LW: 7

The Indians are currently on a 4 game losing streak. They are barely hanging on in the division race. The White Sox may run away with the Central.

12. Mets 19-16 1st in NL East, LW: 9

The Mets had a rough weekend in Tampa which drops them a bit in the rankings. Have a chance to bury the Braves and Marlins this week.

11. Yankees 22-19 4th in AL East, LW: 10

The Yankees are in 4th place in what is appearing to be a hyper competitive division this year. Crazy Gerrit Cole just walked his first batter of season.

The Contenders

10. Rays 23-19 3rd in AL East, LW: 12

The Rays with a sweep of the Mets over the weekend. This appears to be the time the Rays make their move into the upper echelon of baseball.

9. Blue Jays 22-17 2nd in AL East, LW: 14

Who said the Blue Jays needed a home. They are proving to be as fun as we expected. A breath of fresh air in a season of tough baseball to watch.

8. Cardinals 23-18 1st in NL Central, LW: 2

Nolan Arenado is having great season. He is proving that Coors field was not the reason why he was a great baseball player.

7. Dodgers 23-18 3rd in NL West, LW: 11

It appears the slump is over. The Dodgers starting pitching alone is reason to expect them to move up near the top of the Power Rankings again.

6. Astros 24-17 2nd in AL West, LW: 13

The Astros appear to still be one of the best in AL in 2021. They are currently riding a six game winning streak and have a run differential of plus 56.

5. Athletics 25-17 1st in AL West, LW: 4

The Athletics mainly drop because the teams above them are playing so well at the moment. The A’s and Astros are currently playing for first place.

4. Red Sox 25-17 1st in AL East, LW: 1

A 3-3 week was bad enough to move the Red Sox down from the top spot in the Power Rankings. They are still one of the surprises of baseball thus far.

3. Padres 25-17 2nd in NL West, LW: 6

The Padres are looking to make their move right now. Yu Darvish is proving that last year was just the beginning of him returning to one of the best in MLB.

2. Giants 25-16 1st in NL West, LW: 2

We need to stop denying the Giants. They are one of the best teams in baseball so far as every metric shows. The pitching has very few weaknesses.

1.White Sox 25-15 1st in NL West, LW: 3

The White Sox are 25-15 with a run differential of plus 73. That is almost a 2 run a game difference. In other words the Chi Sox are a juggernaut.
