Hi everyone, we are almost through the first month of the baseball season. The more things games get played the more we just don’t know what to expect. We will attempt to dive into the 30 baseball teams and sort it out, here we go…
Cellar Dwellers
30. Tigers 7-16 5th in AL Central, LW 29
The Tigers have what I predicted to have and that’s the worst record in baseball. Please don’t hate me Detroit someone had to be at the bottom.
29. Rockies 8-14 5th in NL West, LW 30
The Rockies are taking the Coors field metrics to an extreme this season. 8-7 at home and 0-7 on the road. They also do not have a GM at this time.
28. Rangers 9-14 5th in AL West, LW 21
Tough weekend for the Rangers on the South Side of Chicago. Unfortunately for the rest of the AL, many teams well be saying that about this season.
27. Twins 7-14 4th in AL Central, LW 19
The Twins are one of the biggest disappointments in all of baseball thus far in 2021. There is time for the Twins to get back in the hunt but must start now.
26. Yankees 9-13 5th in AL East, LW 27
The Yankees had a great weekend in Cleveland and appeared to be heading back in the right direction. But the Yankees lost two in a row to fall yet again.
25. Orioles 10-12 4th in AL East, LW 23
We would say let’s drop the Orioles but the O’s did have a 3-3 week and ended the Athletics 13 game winning streak with an 8-2 win on Sunday.
The bottom of the middle
24. Nationals 8-11 5th in NL East, LW 26
Max Scherzer is still really really good. In his last two starts he has thrown 13 shutout innings with 19 strikeouts and 3 walks. But only got one run of support.
23. Reds 10-12 5th in NL Central, LW 6
The biggest drop in our rankings is the Reds who just broke a 7 game losing streak to the Dodgers of all teams. Bullpen and defense has been the Achilles heel
22. Marlins 10-12 4th in NL East, LW 22
The Marlins could be an underestimated team. With Corey Dickerson, Adam Duvall, Starling Marte and Jesus Aguilar, they have a scrappy veteran core.
21. Cubs 10-12 4th in NL Central, LW 24
The Cubs were hitting the ball with authority last week and I can no longer talk trash about their hitting since they are over .200 as a team, well for now.
20. Indians 10-11 3rd in AL Central, LW 13
The Indians had a rough weekend at home against the Yankees. Usually you would say that is the norm but this Yankees group has been bad so Cle drops.
19. Blue Jays 10-11 3rd in AL East, LW 20
A series win in Tampa for the Blue Jays who are treading water right now. Keep an eye on Hyun Jin Ryu’s, his injury is said to be minor but still concerning.
The Middle Tier
18. Braves 10-12 3rd in NL East, LW 15
The Braves are too good of an offensive team to be getting one hit over 14 total innings of a doubleheader. No matter how good the other teams pitchers are.
17. Pirates 11-11 3rd in NL Central, LW 25
Winning series in Detroit and Minnesota has forced me to move the Pirates into this tier. Pirates have won 3 series in a row and are playing great baseball.
16. Rays 11-12 2nd in AL East, LW 12
The Rays have been hot and cold throughout the season. Which is very usual for one of the most consistent teams over years, but hey that’s baseball folks.
15. Diamondbacks 11-11 4th in NL West, LW 28
The pitching performances of Madison Bumgarner and Zac Gallen on Sunday were a thing of legend, allowing only one hit over 14 total innings.
14. Astros 11-11 4th in AL West, LW 18
Great bounce back from the Astros after a disasterous trip to the Rocky Mountains. Alex Bregman and Michael Brantley make a great middle of the lineup.
13. Phillies 11-11 2nd in NL East, LW 16
With many teams falling the Phillies rose in the rankings by simply going 3-3 last week. Bryce Harper quietly off to a fantastic start hitting .319 overall.
12. Cardinals 11-11 2nd in NL Central, LW 17
The Cards may be starting to get something going with a weekend of sweep of the Reds. The starting pitching is certainly the strength of this team.
11. Angels 11-10 3rd in AL West, LW 10
Tough weekend Series in Houston for the Halos. Mike Trout is still really good at baseball. How’s a stat line of .426 average with a .539 OBP and a 1,359 OPS.
The Contenders
10. Mets 9-8 1st in NL East, LW 4
Let’s discuss again how good Jacob Degrom is at baseball and here’s his stats. 29 innings, 0.31 ERA, 0.55 WHIP, 50 strikeouts, 3 walks, best in game no debate.
9. Mariners 13-10 2nd in AL West, LW 3
The Mariners are already starting to come back to Earth after a great start to this season. Lot’s of young talent here led by a breakout start from Ty France.
8. White Sox 12-9 2nd in AL West, LW 14
Here comes the Chi Sox after a dominating sweep of the Rangers over the weekend. Yermin Mercedes is hitting .414, 2nd in AL to some guy name Mike.
7. Padres 13-11 3rd in NL West, LW 7
What a great weekend in L.A by the Padres. Fernando Tatis Jr. keeps adding to his legend. What holds them is the series against the Brewers happened too.
6. Brewers 13-9 1st in NL Central, LW 11
The Brew Crew had a great week getting a sweep in San Diego and taking over first place in the NL Central. They did all this work without Christian Yelich.
5. Royals 14-7 1st in AL Central, LW 9
Must give credit where credit is due. Salvador Perez looks like the 2015 Salvador Perez and is fast becoming this side of George Brett the best Royal ever.
4. Red Sox 14-9 1st in AL East, LW 2
J.D Martinez now has 7 homeruns and 21 RBI’s and is with the likes of Freddie Freeman, Jose Abreu and Nolan Arenado one of best run producers in the game.
3. Giants 15-8 2nd in NL West, LW 5
The Giants are off to a great start led by Buster Posey. Posey’s power had a sharp decline before this season but he already hit his 5th homer yesterday.
2. Athletics 15-8 1st in AL West, LW 8
The Athletics finally lost a game on Sunday after they won 13 in a row. Guess what they did on Monday, they won again. Start a new steak why don’t you.
1.Dodgers 15-8 1st in NL West, LW 1
The Dodgers hold on best team in baseball moniker is slipping fast. Injuries and a leaky bullpen is starting to catch up to Dodger blue, don’t crown them yet!
