Drew’s Top 12 Quarterbacks

Hi everyone, this is always a great debate in the world of football. Who is the best Quarterbacks in the NFL currently? It’s always fluid but I’m going to go by what I think right now. My evaluation is what has happened this season and what I see in the immediate future (next season). It’s objective and this list are the point of any top list without shear stats is always objective, so please argue with me and thank you for reading!

12. Jordan Love

Yes Jordan Love cracks the list. Have you seen the cheese whiz QB play over the past two months? The former Aggie has been better than just about anyone in the league since Thanksgiving. The talent is there and I think there is massive upside in an organization that has had an elite Quarterback since 1992. I would be weary putting the Niners in a parlay or teaser this Saturday, just saying folks.

11. Jalen Hurts

The former Sooner and Crimson Tide Quarterback is certainly trending down. However, the recent data shows (how about a 26-3 stretch over a recent 29 game stretch) that it is too soon to sell all of your Jalen Hurts stock. I could say that injuries and poor coaching has to attributed to Jalen’s recent decline. A possible coaching change and getting healthy will serve Jalen very well.

10. Kyler Murray

Yeah Drew you are such a homer, well how about this. How good would the 49ers be this season with Kyler Murray, 15-2, 16-1?? I am just saying going 3-5 (and a made field goal from 4-4) with the worst roster in the league not in Charlotte (and that’s arguable at least they have dudes on defense) shows just how valuable Kyler Murray is. If he was 3 inches taller he’d be in everyone’s top 5.

9. Dak Prescott

I know Dak had maybe the most hollow 403 yard passing day in the history of football on Sunday. But the stats don’t lie here and Dak still has to be a top 10 Quarterback. The Cowboys have been the top scoring offense in the league 2 of the past 3 seasons and this is without a great running game. That means it all falls on Dak. Reason why he’s only 9th on list is he doesn’t elevate in the big moment.

8. Jared Goff

Yeah everyone Jared Goff is finally getting his flowers. Spoiler alert but Matthew Stafford is higher on this list but let’s not throw dirt on Jared Goff. He’s an excellent NFL Quarterback, great at reading defenses and will slice you apart with a clean pocket. He’s been to a super bowl and don’t laugh the Lions have a legit chance to get there this year, not many QB’s take 2 teams to the big game, underrated.

7. C.J Stroud

I know he’s a rookie but what else do we have to see everyone?? We gave the New York Giants starter the nickname Dimes but I think it should be C.J dimes or C.J Darts because the dude is just throwing darts all over the field. That performance against a good (but slightly overrated) Browns defense on Sunday was not surprising to me. The AFC has yet another great QB, it’s a murderers row out there.

6. Justin Herbert

Let’s not piss all of our Justin Herbert stock away. If he gets Jim Harbaugh the Chargers are going to be downright scary next season. But for all of the great stats and also passing the eye test (you watch Herbert play QB and can’t help but call him a baller), he’s only made 1 playoff appearance in his first four seasons and that was a game his team blew a 27-0 lead even though not his fault really. Herbert will be loved again next season, book it!!

5. Matthew Stafford

Matthew Stafford has always been one of my favorite QB’s to watch. As a Cards fan I absolutely hated him coming to the NFC West (and Cards being 1-5 against him shows why), he is the older Justin Herbert if you think about it. Made a laughing stock organization viable but wasn’t quite good enough to get them over to elite status. Even elite QB’s need a good team around them, just a fact of life.

4. Joe Burrow

I know he’s injury plauged (as 2 of his four seasons ended early due to a Week 11 injury). What has Joey football done in the two seasons he finished. Oh he made a super and an AFC Championship and is 3-1 Vs Patrick Mahomes and 2-0 Vs Josh Allen. Joe doesn’t have the elite skills of the three guys above him on this list but reason why he’s next Brady/Montana and is great in clutch situations and the intangibles are already among the best to ever do it.

3. Lamar Jackson

3 and 2 is very debatable but Josh Allen (spoiler alert) is ahead of Lamar because of the durability and Josh has won 5 playoff games compared to Lamar’s 1. Now you could say Josh hasn’t won a playoff game away from Buffalo and Lamar’s was in Tennessee (on the road) so fair. Truth is Lamar is just getting better and better as a Quarterback, maybe the toughest QB to gameplan for, he does everything well, maybe this is his year.

2. Josh Allen

Or maybe it’s Josh Allen’s year. What is underrated about Josh Allen is his durability, especially for how often he runs and how many hits he takes. But come on everyone, Josh did throw 18 picks this season and can be prone to hero ball. But the dude has scored 173 regular season touchdowns in the past four years (or 43 a year). That’s just insane, his production is out of this world and I think this season he’s finally getting the credit he deserves as someone becoming an all time great. But if he loses to the Chiefs on Sunday he will be 0-3 against Mahomes and company in the playoffs and even though he’s won 3 straight regular season games against K.C (all of them in Arrowhead), he’ll be deemed with a loss as always being the bridesmaid and never the bride. In other words the biggest game of his life is this Sunday in Orchard Park.

1.Patrick Mahomes

Patrick Mahomes is in sixth season as the starter in Kansas City. He has thrown for 296 yards per game with 219 touchdowns and a career passer rating of 103.5. Even in the passing friendly age of today that is the 2nd best passer rating of all time (next to Aaron Rodgers who is at 103.6). But the stats aren’t even telling the story. Mahomes, has won the division every year. Has made it to the conference championship game every year, and to show how much of a winner he is all five games have been at his home stadium. Mahomes has made it to three super bowls, winning two of them. He is 28 years old, is about to have his 111th career start and 15th in the playoffs, and Sunday in Buffalo will be his first ever playoff game played on the road. But to make it more scary for Buffalo this is the healthiest sideshow Pat has been in the playoffs since 2019. Josh Allen can close the gap with a win but it’s going to be at least a year or two of excellence from Allen or Jackson (possible) or a steep decline from Mahomes (which is very unlikely) for Pat to pass the torch as the best in the game. This is legendary stuff we are seeing. Man can Sunday come quick enough, what a scene it’s going to be in Western New York!!!
