Football Power Rankings Week 13

Hi everyone, i hope everyone enjoys what I have to say. Have yourself a great day and let’s get to it.

32. Texans 1-10 (Projected Record 2-10, Drew Rating: -15.78) LW: 32

The Texans are at this point so far behind the rest of the league it would take two victories in a row for me to even consider moving them from the bottom spot in these rankings. They were competitive early in the season but over the past month that hasn’t even been occurring after the upstanding citizen’s return home went as rusty as expected but still the Texans got blown out, this team is B A D.

31. Rams 3-9 (Projected Record 3-9, Drew Rating: -11.36) LW: 31

Kind of an unexpected move the Rams picking up Baker Mayfield for the stretch run. I also get it though. Baker will likely get a four game cameo starting next week to see if he is a viable backup/insurance policy for Matthew Stafford next season. Stafford has a spinal cord contusion, that sounds almost career threatening. This is the biggest fall from grace any Super Bowl champ has ever had.

30. Bears 3-10 (Projected Record 5-8, Drew Rating: -7.30) LW: 30

Another loss being snatch from victory as the Bears collapsed down the stretch in a 28-19 loss to their rightful owner in Soldier field this past Sunday. Justin Fields had another chance to come through in the clutch and for the 7th time in 8 tries with the Bears down one score late he couldn’t deliver. Only time has was a negative 2 yard drive after a now Ravens linebacker pick late in Week 3, ouch.

29. Broncos 3-9 (Projected Record 6-6, Drew Rating: -3.47) LW: 29

Let’s review the Donkeys close low scoring losses. 17-16 on a missed 64 yard fg. 12-9 in ot failed on a 4th and 1 from opp 5. 19-16 in ot on a muffed punt, 17-10 blew a 10-0 early lead, 22-16 in ot after another 10-0 early lead, couldn’t make one last stop to lose 10-9. Common theme here is all these are gross low scoring affairs. But the Donkeys have been somewhat unlucky or just poorly coached.

28. Colts 4-8 (Projected Record 4-9, Drew Rating: -10.18) LW: 24

I know they beat the Chiefs and almost beat the Eagles but this is a bad football team. The Colts were hanging around in Dallas on Sunday night before getting outscored 33-0 in the 4th Quarter. Matt Ryan looks just a little over the hill. Jonathan Taylor is outstanding but cannot do anything when there are no holes from him. The defense has no pass rush, in other words this is a mess.

27. Cardinals 4-8 (Projected Record 4-8, Drew Rating: -9.70) LW: 28

Thanks to the Colts poop show the Cards stay in the bottom five has lasted only one week. The Rams disappointing season primarily has to do key injuries and too many big losses to their core from last season. What is the Cardinals excuse? Kyler Murray is 3-7 in his 10 starts. DeAndre Hopkins is back, J.J Watt has been primarily healthy. Budda Baker has been excellent, heads are about to roll here.

26. Panthers 4-8 (Projected Record 4-8, Drew Rating: -8.11) LW: 25

The Cats come off the bye week with an outside chance to still steal this division. Remember the Bucs have the Niners, Bengals and Cardinals (who are capable on the right day) over the next three. The Panthers have the Seahawks (more winnable than you think), Steelers and Lions. Kitties probably go 1-2 over the next three but what if Sam Darnold finds a way to win all three, not impossible.

25. Saints 4-9 (Projected Record 6-7, Drew Rating: -2.96) LW: 22

The Saints will be kicking themselves in the dome until the roosters come home after blowing a game on Monday night in which they had a 16-3 lead with 5:30 to play and the ball in their opponents territory. Losing to the Bucs in a game they metrically and on the field dominated for 55 minutes will not sit well for months to come. Would Sean Peyton and Drew Brees be interested in coming back???

24. Jaguars 4-8 (Projected Record 6-6, Drew Rating: -2.64) LW: 19

The Jags reign of being competitive came to an end in the Motor City on Sunday afternoon. Do the Jags still have a chance to win the AFC South if they win at Tennessee on Sunday afternoon. Hypothetically yes, but do you think this team is ready to be a contender. I would say losing 40-14 in a must win game against a frisky but still mediocre Lions team answers all of the questions you need here.

23. Steelers 5-7 (Projected Record 4-8, Drew Rating: -7.43) LW: 27

What did I say to everyone? The Steelers are not among the worst teams in the league and they will play better in the second half. Can you believe that a Week 4 blown 10 point fourth quarter lead at home to the Jets is the reason why the Burgh is not a serious contender to make the playoffs. Just really hard to jump three games on the propellers down the stretch, Tomlin can coach friends.

22. Falcons 5-8 (Projected Record 5-8, Drew Rating: -4.77) LW: 18

You could argue I could put the Falcons below the Steelers but that game on Sunday was an either or game still and the Falcons overall has still slightly been better. However, even though this team is better than expected they still are not a good football team and are about to fade into the abyss with one more loss. I think that Desmond Ridder should be considered to start after the birds bye.

21. Lions 5-7 (Projected Record 5-7, Drew Rating: -4.09) LW: 26

There is my Lions!!! The over 6.5 is looking like a safe bet and some are even murmuring about the Lions making the playoffs. Here what has to happen to give them a shot. They have to beat the Vikings this week (Lions are actually favored!!) and the Giants have to lose to the Eagles. They probably need the Giants and Commanders to both collapse down the stretch with a hot finish, maybe????

20. Raiders 5-7 (Projected Record 6-6, Drew Rating: -2.10) LW: 20

Nice win for the Vaders over the Bolts on Sunday. Vegas has an outside shot of making the playoffs and have to win their next three to give themselves a shot. But the biggest victory here is the murmurs about Josh McDaniels and Derek Carr has silenced some. We will see if Derek Carr is a vader next season. I think Vegas needs to get to the 8 or 9 win range otherwise he’s likely out of Vegas.

19. Packers 5-8 (Projected Record 6-7, Drew Rating: -1.99) LW: 21

The Packers and Aaron Rodgers do what they always this past Sunday. Beat the Chicago Bears. This season is all but lost for Green Bay even though 8-9 is a very likely finishing record (saying they beat the Rams, probably resting Vikings and Lions at home). Will Rodgers be back next season? He certainly will be. Also, good news Christian Watson can play. This team will bounce back next year.

18. Browns 5-7 (Projected Record 6-6, Drew Rating: -1.85) LW: 23

Your going to think I’m crazy but the Brownies can still win the AFC North. Evil would win but here’s what has to happen. They run table (an upset of Cincy who they own on Sunday is the only game they won’t be favored or a small dog). Cincy and Baltimore each go 2-2 in their other four games. Everyone would be 10-7 and the Brownies would have a tiebreaker, that would be a haunting scenario.

17. Chargers 6-6 (Projected Record 5-7, Drew Rating: -6.42) LW: 16

The Bolts are in a dangerous spot and Brandon Staley’s job is on the line. If the Chargers lose at home to the Dolphins on Sunday night their playoff hopes would be on life support. However if the fighting Herbert’s could find a way to win they would be 7-6 and likely tied with the Jets and only a game back and have the tiebreaker over the Phins. This is the biggest game in the Staley/Herbert era for sure.

16. Bucs 6-6 (Projected Record 6-6, Drew Rating: -.50) LW: 17

I honestly need to bathe myself after watching this Bucs team play football. It is just so disgusting to watch. But as I have said all those years that Tommy Boy resided in Foxboro Massachusetts, Tom Brady is the luckiest athlete in the history of professional organized sports and he’s also the 2nd, 3rd and 4th luckiest. This Bucs team is almost a lock to get in and this team sucks buttermilk.

15. Patriots 6-6 (Projected Record 6-6, Drew Rating: 2.88) LW: 14

Yes the Pats are the first of the 8 Eastern Division teams to enter the Power Rankings. Yes everyone the AFC and NFC East have 8 of the Top 15 teams in all of football. I think the Commanders and Giants both or either one of them will finish 8-8-1 and this Pats team I think goes maybe 8-9 so not all East teams will finish with a winning record. Mac Jones looks broken to me, get him an OC please.

14. Commanders 7-5 (Projected Record 6-7, Drew Rating: -1.53) LW: 12

Washington was able to get out of New Jersey with grosses result in all of sports, a tie! I’m not sure the Commanders are a playoff team or not. I do not have a great feel for them the Giants or Seahawks, as the only team capable of crashing this party is the Lions in my estimation. My guess is the Commanders will get some revenge on the Giants after the bye and Taylor Heinicke will make it in.

13. Giants 7-4 (Projected Record 6-6, Drew Rating: -1) LW: 13

The G Unit stopped their recent wounded state of mind in getting a 20-20 tie against the Commanders on Sunday. The metrics show and my eyes showed the Giants outplayed Washington and should have won outright. The schedule is unrelenting down the stretch as well. The G Unit play the Eagles twice and at Washington and at Minnesota. It may take a small XMas miracle for the Giants to get in.

12. Titans 7-5 (Projected Record 6-6, Drew Rating: -.20) LW: 11

That was a rough Sunday for the Titans. Against the Top 2 seeds in each conference the Titans have been outscored 76-17. That is why this team is not even close to a Super Bowl contender and likely is going to lose in their first playoff game. Mike Vrabel I always praise as a coach but this is a Quarterback and playmakers league. Titans best playmaker in recent years just shredded them Sunday.

11. Jets 7-5 (Projected Record 6-6, Drew Rating: 1.80) LW: 10

The Jets are so much more dynamic with Mike White at Quarterback. You could argue outside of the messy start the Jets outplayed the Vikings for 2 and half hours on Sunday but because the Vikings have that fairy dust luck the Jets (who had two chances to win late) fell short in Minneapolis on Sunday. The Jets have a brutal spot in Buffalo but three winnable games after that, going to be close here.

10. Seahawks 7-5 (Projected Record 7-5, Drew Rating: 3.83) LW: 15

This shows you how top heavy this league is. I think the gap between the top 8 and the Seahawks and this next team to be unveiled is stark. However, the Hawks who do have a tough three game stretch (Niners, Chiefs, Jets) have an opportunity to make the playoffs where Pete Carroll has lived in without collapsing down the stretch. A 3-2 finish ensures they get in but 2-3 might be okay too, well see

9. Dolphins 8-4 (Projected Record 6-6, Drew Rating: 2.35) LW: 6

You might think I am harsh but I am just not buying this team as a Super Bowl contender with Tua at Quarterback. He has shown time and time again against elite defenses (Titans last season, 49ers last week well see in Buffalo next Saturday) He cannot make the big plays when it matters to give his team a chance to win. I love them over the Chargers on Sunday but this will be short lived playoff run.

8. Bengals 8-4 (Projected Record 8-4, Drew Rating: 8.46) LW: 9

The Bengals over the past three weeks have been arguably the best team in all of football. But these rankings are based on the whole season and for the whole season the Bengals have lost to the Steelers, Cooper Rush and by 19 at Cleveland with Jacoby Brissett. If you are saying who’s the darkhorse to win it all just like last year look at Joe Burrow and company. This team is a scary team to play.

7. Ravens 8-4 (Projected Record 8-4, Drew Rating: 9.38) LW: 8

This Ravens team does have a more favorable schedule for the Bengals on paper but this two game stretch at Pittsburgh and Cleveland that looks favorable just a couple of weeks ago now is a 2 game stretch they could easily go 0-2 in. If the Birds with potentially no Lamar Jackson loses both of those games then all of a sudden it opens up the door for them to actually miss the playoffs, just crazy.

6. 49ers 8-4 (Projected Record 9-3, Drew Rating: 12.77) LW: 7

The Niners have the best roster in football from top to bottom. Jimmie Ward, Charvarius Ward, Fred Warner, Nick Bosa, Trent Williams, George Kittle, Deebo Samuel, Christian McCaffrey. I just named a top 5 level player at every unit on this team. No other team in recent memory might even have a top 10 player in every unit. However, the QB is a third string Quarterback from Iowa State, life ain’t fair dude.

5. Chiefs 9-3 (Projected Record 9-3, Drew Rating: 12.09) LW: 2

Some may think I am being harsh but the Chiefs have lost to the other top two AFC Contenders. They beat Malik Willis by three, beat the Raiders by one, the overachieving metrically, underachieving talentwise Chargers by a combined 6. You get it. When this team is on they are the best team in football. But most Sunday’s this season they have merely been solid and not great, still a SB contender.

4. Bills 9-3 (Projected Record 10-2, Drew Rating: 17.25) LW: 4

The Bills have all of a sudden owned Bill Belichick in Foxboro as the last three season the Bills have gone 3-0 at their former house of horrors with a combined score of 95-41. Josh Allen looked great and the defense was also dominant. This team is also starting to run the ball with authority which is something we haven’t seen in recent years. This team could still be the team to beat in January.

3. Cowboys 9-3 (Projected Record 10-2, Drew Rating: 17.71) LW: 5

The Cowboys do one thing well, they beat the snot out of average football team and are scoring like crazy in variety of ways. They scored 49 on the Bears, a measly 28 in a loss on the Packers, 40 on the Vikings in the most impressive victory league wide this season, 28 in a game they looked rusty against the Giants, and now 54 against the Colts. This team will go as far as Dak can take em.

2. Vikings 10-2 (Projected Record 6-6, Drew Rating: -.10) LW: 3

I know this team is a 10-2 team in a 6-6 teams body. The Vikes by DVOA and advance metrics are actually worse this season than the 7-9 and 8-9 outfits from the last two seasons. So what gives. Well the Vikings are 9-0 in one score games, is that sustainable? Probably not, but since this team is 10-2 and about to clinch their division I think I will give them their due and keep them up here friend

1. Eagles 11-1 (Projected Record 11-1, Drew Rating: 18.65) LW: 1

The green birds have not moved from this perch for 2 and a half months and even an upset loss in Jersey Sunday will removed them from here. Plus you can name every teams weakness. The Vikings can stop the pass or protect the Quarterback. The Cowboys are sloppy in obvious pass situations and with penalties, the Bills are hit and miss in pass protection. The Chiefs secondary is young and vulnerable. The Niners have Brock Purdy. The Ravens have no dynamic skill guys outside of their tight end. The Bengals still struggle to run the ball and pass protect. What is the Eagles weakness? Well the QB and coach had a terrible playoff game last season. Well it’s not the playoffs yet but I think this Eagles team is now the clear favorite to get out of the NFC. Sure Tom Brady will prove us all wrong and lead the 8-9 Bucs to the Super Bowl. We all know god loves Tom Brady!!!!!!!!
