Baseball Power Rankings Week 15

Hi everyone, we are now in Week 15 of the baseball power rankings. The top is the top and the bottom is the bottom and the middle is the middle. If you like my matter of fact analysis your going to love what I have to say below, stock market references aside.

Sell Sell Sell

30. Diamondbacks 23-63 5th in NL West, LW: 30

The Diamondbacks since the beginning of May are an unfathomable 8-50 overall. That is a pace of 19-143 over a 162 game season, this is done over 2 mo.

29. Orioles 27-57 5th in AL West, LW: 29

The Orioles swept the Astros in Houston which is the ultimate welp that’s baseball moment. 2 of 3 games were blowouts too, you can’t predict baseball.

28. Pirates 31-53 5th in NL Central, LW: 28

Barring a second half collapse my over 58 wins for the Pirates is looking good. I am also rooting for the under 100 losses, love overreactions from fans.

27. Rangers 33-52 5th in AL West, LW: 27

Been a tough year for the Rangers in their brand new stadium. They just don’t have enough talent (especially offensively) to compete day in and day out.

26. Royals 35-49 5th in AL Central, LW: 25

Not even in the stratosphere of Dbacks bad but Royals are on a 19-40 run right now. This team is about the future though, lots of talent in the minors.

25. Twins 35-48 4th in AL Central, LW: 22

After getting smoked again by the White Sox and losing a series to the free falling Royals the dream of the Twins turning their season around is done.

Probably Selling

24. Rockies 37-48 4th in NL West, LW: 26

After a 6-1 homestand the Rockies are 31-17 at home. Rockies at Dbacks this week is an unstoppable force VS immovable object or opposite of this.

23. Marlins 36-47 5th in NL East, LW: 23

The most nerdy baseball thing I am doing this year is tracking Marlins weekly record/run differential. 3-3 record with a +4 run diff, up to +21 for year.

22. Tigers 39-46 3rd in AL Cental, LW: 24

After winning series from the Indians and White Sox the Tigers are now 31-21 after an 8-25 start. Proving that A.J Hinch is an excellent manager.

21. Cardinals 42-44 4th in NL Central, LW: 20

The Cardinals have become a major disappointment and after losing 3 of 4 in Colorado and being 9 games out of first. Looking bleak in the land of the Arch

20. Phillies 40-42 4th in NL East, LW: 21

Jean Segura has always been a very underrated hitter. He is hitting .321 this season. He has hit .300 or better in 4 of past six seasons, hits ball all over field.

19. Braves 41-43 3rd in NL East, LW: 19

Braves are still lingering even though they keep hovering right below .500. This is a team I can see taking off after the All Star Break to 90ish wins still.

Hold or slight buy

18. Cubs 42-43 3rd in NL Central, LW: 12

The Cubs have lost 10 in a row and my comments about the Cubs being a big seller may end up being true after all. A big week before the All Star Break.

17. Nationals 41-42 2nd in NL East, LW: 17

The Nationals are leaning towards buying with first place in reach and a very veteran laden roster. Max Scherzer not being an All Star is worst snub ever.

16. Angels 42-42 4th in AL West, LW: 18

Mike Trout is close to returning. The AL Wildcard may be out of reach for the Angels to make a push still. Next two weeks will tell if Angels buy or sell.

15. Yankees 42-41 4th in AL East, LW: 15

The Yankees might be the biggest disappointment in baseball (many people in Minneapolis may say hold our beer). Too much of a win now mind set to sell.

14. Indians 42-40 2nd in AL Central, LW: 10

Cleveland ran into an angry Astros team over the Weekend and all of a sudden have lost seven games in a row and are free falling out of the race.

13. Reds 44-40 2nd in NL Central, LW: 16

The Reds are leaning towards being buyers after overtaking the Cubs for second in the division. They have the lineup and rotation, need bullpen parts.

12. Blue Jays 43-39 3rd in AL East, LW: 13

If you look at the metrics the Blue Jays should be far better than 43-39. But as what happens with many young teams they haven’t been getting timely hits.

11. Mariners 45-40 3rd in AL West, LW: 14

The Mariners are starting to play with some confidence and could be a dangerous wild card contender in second half. No expectations either, house money.

Buy Buy Buy

10. Mets 44-37 1st in NL East, LW: 11

The Mets are just meandering around letting the rest of the division hang around. Certainly buyers, they need a bat and another rotation arm for stretch run

9. Athletics 49-37 2nd in AL West, LW: 9

I still like the A’s to win the AL West. They have always been an excellent second half team and I love their pitching staff overall, bullpen goes 7 deep.

8. Rays 49-36 2nd in AL East, LW: 5

The Rays have cooled off after a very hot start to June. The rotation after Tyler Glasnow has been very underwhelming, losses of Snell and Morton hurt.

7. Padres 50-37 3rd in NL West, LW: 6

Is Fernando Tatis already the best player in baseball? He leads all of baseball in homeruns, slugging percentage and stolen bases. slugging .698 is dumb.

6. White Sox 49-35 1st in AL Central, LW: 8

The White Sox dominated the Twins (again) but lost a series at Detroit over the weekend. Carlos Rodon and Lance Lynn have been unhittable this season.

5. Brewers 51-35 1st in NL Central, LW: 9

The Brewers recently had a 9 game winning streak including a 3 game sweep of Cubs with one game scoring 15 unanswered runs after being down 7-0.

4. Astros 52-33 1st in AL West, LW: 2

Even with the domination of the Indians over the Weekend when you get swept by the putrid Orioles at home I have to drop you in the Power Rankings.

3. Dodgers 53-32 2nd in NL West, LW: 3

The Dodgers just had their 9 game winning streak snapped on Monday but are getting healthy and starting to find their stride. Might take over division.

2. Red Sox 54-32 1st in AL East, LW: 4

The top 2 teams in the Power Rankings were my two biggest whiffs of the Season. The Red Sox don’t have many weaknesses but can use some pitching.

1. Giants 53-31 1st in NL West, LW: 1

Giants are barely clinging onto number 1 in the Rankings. Tyler Rogers dominating the National League with an 83 mile an hour fastball is a sight to see.
