Baseball Power Rankings Week 14

Hi everyone, we are back in a big way for another week of our baseball Power Rankings. We are heading into the All Star break in the great state of Colorado. Be cool out there friends, summer is heating up, rankings below.

The Really Bad

30. Diamondbacks 22-58 5th in NL West, LW: 30

The streak is over!! Right after the Diamondbacks broke the 24 game road losing streak they started a brand new one now standing at 2.

29. Orioles 25-54 5th in AL East, LW: 29

The streak is over!! The Orioles also broke their 19 game road losing streak and even did it again last night winning at of all teams the Astros.

28. Pirates 29-48 5th in NL Central, LW: 28

Unlike the two teams above the Pirates are still fighting. They seem to make a blooper play in the field or basepaths every week but they play hard.

27. Rangers 30-48 5th in AL West, LW: 27

A good weekend for the Rangers who beat up on the suddenly really bad K.C Royals. Will be interested to see if they field offers for Joey Gallo.

26. Rockies 32-47 4th in NL West, LW: 26

The Rockies historic road woes continue. Somehow even though they haven’t had anywhere near as bad a road losing streak as others still 6-31 away, ugh.

25. Royals 33-44 5th in AL Central, LW: 22

You get swept at Texas while getting outscored 21-5 you fall to the bad category. To think in April this team was 16-9 and appeared to be a contender.

The Pretty Bad

24. Tigers 34-45 4th in AL Central, LW: 25

Thanks to the Royals the Tigers have jumped up a category. If you take the Tigers May/June with the Royals April you would have a damn good team.

23. Marlins 33-44 5th in NL East, LW: 23

2-4 week with a 0 run differntial (well -1 but who cares) has been the theme of the Marlins season. Win a lot of blowouts lose close ones, +17 run diff.

22. Twins 33-43 3rd in AL Central, LW: 24

The Twins are running out of time if they want to make a push to get back into the Wildcard race. The division even with Chi Sox struggling is out of reach.

21. Phillies 36-40 4th in NL East, LW: 18

The best moment of the Phillies week was Joe GIradi shading Max Scherzer about foreign substances in his hair. Because on the baseball field was not good.

20. Cardinals 38-41 4th in NL Central, LW: 17

An absolutely brutal week for the Cardinals who has a stretch that was Det, Pit, Az and mostly at home. Even with win last night 2-5 so far, not good enough

19. Braves 37-40 3rd in NL East, LW: 20

The Braves continue to be light years worse than they have been over the past few seasons and they still have time since the Mets are letting them linger.

The Meh

18. Angels 38-40 4th in AL West, LW: 16

A tough week for the Angels who played the juggernauts in Giants and Rays and predictably went 1-4. Good start in the Bronx against the enigma Yanks.

17. Nationals 38-38 2nd in NL East, LW: 21

This is what happens when a team with elite talent who has been utterly disappointing is buried by their competition. They figure it out, here comes Wash.

16. Reds 39-38 3rd in NL Central, LW: 19

The Reds are the ultimate Jekyll and Hyde team this season. A good week, bad week, good week, bad week, good week. Still in it in the NL Central.

15. Yankees 40-38 4th in AL East, LW: 13

Getting swept again at Boston has Yankees fans calling for Aaron Boone’s head. Boone probably has rest of year to turn it around but disappointing team.

14. Mariners 41-38 3rd in AL West, LW: 14

Wouldn’t it be so Mariners (a team hitting .217 as a team) for this to be the team the breaks the longest playoff drought in American Sports, serendipitious.

13. Blue Jays 40-36 3rd in AL East, LW: 15

Sidewinder Adam Cimber was a good pickup for the Jays. They need to solidify their bullpen and could be a force in the second. This team can flat out hit.

12. Cubs 42-37 2nd in NL Central, LW: 11

The Dodgers got some revenge and some against the Cubs over the weekend walking them off all around Chavez Ravine. Need to trade for another starter.

11. Mets 40-34 1st in NL East, LW: 10

Jacob Degrom is human gave up 2 runs in a start and ERA is now 0.69 (send him down!!). Bigger issue is the Mets not putting the Braves and Nats away.

The good

10. Indians 42-33 2nd in AL Central, LW: 9

What we can say about the Indians is they were a team many pegged as a regression but are in the A’s and Rays camp as well run and always finding a way.

9. Brewers 46-33 1st in NL Central, LW: 12

Brewers did what a good team should do and beat up on the Rockies and Dbacks to reclaim first place in the division. Also a great start to series Vs CHC.

8. White Sox 45-32 1st in AL Central, LW: 4

For all of the praise I’ve been giving the White Sox I have to throw some shade on them. They have not been playing good baseball throughout June.

7. Athletics 47-33 2nd in AL West, LW: 6

The A’s were able to survive the trip crosstown and avoid the sweep. Saturday night A’s Giants game was one of the best games of the entire season.

6. Padres 47-33 3rd in NL West, LW: 8

The Padres hit rock bottom getting swept in Colorado but has turned things around in a hurry with the high point of season being the sweep over hated L.A.

5. Rays 47-32 2nd in AL East, LW: 7

Rays we knew wouldn’t stay down too low after the disaster at T-Moblie Park in Seattle. Did fall out of first place thanks to no help from of all teams NYY.

4. Red Sox 48-31 1st in AL East, LW: 5

The Red Sox took over tops in division thanks to sweeping the Yankees again. 2019-2020 was just a downturn as it appears the Red Sox are back again.

3. Dodgers 48-31 2nd in NL West, LW: 3

If we wrote this on Friday would have been a disaster week for the Doyers who got swept and no hit. But turned it around really quickly and is near top.

2. Astros 48-31 1st in AL West, LW: 2

We will forgive them for losing to Bal at home on Monday. They are hitting a ludicrous .279 this season as a team. Only three other teams even above .250.

1.Giants 50-28 1st in NL West, LW: 1

Athletics were coming for the crown of bay area and Saturday night happened. Dodgers turn to try to steal the top spot. L.A won on Monday so well see.
