Hi everyone, tomorrow is the start of the season. We have gone through the entirety of baseball and made our regular season projections. Now it’s time to dive through the postseason, you ready?
American League Wildcard Round
Rays Over Jays- I love the Blue Jays this year and would pick the blue birds in a series here. But for one game? The Sting Rays have an experienced and lethal bullpen and will use it to their advantage in a win or go home situation. Randy Arozorena hits a big home run in the sixth inning and Tampa advances.
Divisional Round
Rays over Yankees in 5
White Sox over Athletics in 4
As I said in my regular season predictions I think the Yankees okay pitching staff will doom them in the postseason and for the second straight year Tampa’s pitching staff and timely hitting beats the Yankees in a five game series. Billy Beane will have to go back to the drawing board as the White Sox win comfortably over the A’s as the A’s feast or famine offense struggles to score runs across the entirety of this series.
American League Championship Series
White Sox over Rays in 7
The ALCS between the South Siders and the Southeasters will be a great series that I can see going either way. I’m going to take the Chi Sox to edge the Rays here is why. The White Sox have a more well rounded lineup and the ability to create bigger innings. I do think Tampa’s pitching is setup to win in the playoffs and is why they are dangerous in this tournament and will make this a series regardless. Remember the name Michael Kopech as a big time asset in the late innings in this series (He hasn’t pitched since 2018 but stuff is elite and Sox Fans are psyched to get him back). The South side is back in the Series for the first time since 2005.
National League Wildcard Round
Mets over Padres
The Padres are by far the superior team so why am I picking the Mets in this game? Two words Jacob Degrom. In a win or go home game you have to go with pitching. This is a game you let Degrom throw 115-120 pitches. Degrom throws a shutout in 3-0 victory which continues the somehow underrated legend of Degrom (hard to do in New York), hands down best pitcher in the game right now.
National League Divisional Round
Dodgers over Mets in 4
Cardinals over Braves in 5
The Dodgers lineup and pitching depth will be too much for the Mets. I’ll take the Mets in game three because of some guy named Degrom otherwise Dodgers roll. Cards-Braves will be a coin flip but familiar to 2019 I’m going to take the Cardinals to win a deciding game in Hotlanta with the Cards pitching being the difference. Unlike 2019 the Cards won’t score 10 runs in the first inning of Game 5, but still stings all the same for the Bravos.
National League Championship Series
Dodgers over Cardinals in 6
There will be a celebration in Chavez Ravine as the Dodgers make it back to the Series for the fourth time in 5 years. The Cards will win a couple of games with Nolan Arenado and Paul Goldschmidt getting hot but the Dodgers depth is too much for the Cards to overcome in a 7 game Series.
2021 World Series
Dodgers over White Sox in 6 games
I want to not be boring and take the Dodgers but they are too loaded across the roster to go against in 2021 in any logical scenario. I do think the White Sox will push them in this Series. The White Sox have the best roster from 1-25 in the AL this year (Yankees included) and this will show in the playoffs. But the Dodgers outside of maybe closer has no weakness on their roster and it’s going to be damn near impossible to hold their offense down for 7 games against any team. Lucas Giolito throws a gem and the White Sox win a fun game 4 to win 2 games (very similar game arc to last years World Series). To pour more salt in the wound of the rest of baseball Clayton Kershaw gets the last out of the series to create a Hollywood ending to 2021. I know picking Gonzaga to win March Madness and the Dodgers to win the World Series is quite original there right Drew? Well vanilla is vanilla, a rock is a rock, and the best is the best. You take the field, I’ll take L.A to repeat in 2021.
