2021 Sports Athlete Individual/International Bracket Region 1

Hi everyone, I want to thank everyone’s participation in the Team Sports Athlete Bracket as we are down to our final four. Now we shift over to the Individual/International Region. This list will consist of the best individual athlete’s or athlete’s in Team Sports in other areas other than the four main American Team Sports. This list was a very tough list to gauge my goal was to try to be expansive and get the best 64 athletes into this bracket. I think outside of the top line it’s going to be a very fun and competitive vote throughout this bracket. So let’s begin with the first Region. Thank you for your participation everyone and let’s have some fun.

1 Simone Biles Vs 16 Colin Morikawa

Simone Biles (American Gymnast) Overview: Simone Biles is the most decorated American Gymnast of all time with 30 Olympic and World Championship medals. Biles won five gold medals at the 2016 Olympic games in Rio De Janeiro (4 golds: Team, All-Around, Vault, Floor Exercise, 1 bronze: Balance Beam) and is a heavy favorite to dominate in many of these same events this summers Olympics in Tokyo.

Colin Morikawa (American Golfer) Overview: The defending PGA Champion and just recently turned 24 Colin Morikawa is fast becoming one of the best players in golf and certainly the best golfer under the age of 25. Morikawa started his career by making 22 consecutive PGA cuts which is only beat by some guy named Tiger Woods. Morikawa’s ousted Dustin Johnson and Bryson Dechambeau to win the PGA Championship and looks to be here to stay.

8 Breanna Stewart Vs 9 Nyjah Huston

Brianna Stewart (Seattle Storm WNBA) Overview: Breanna Stewart is one of the best players in all of the WNBA. Stewart was drafted first overall by the Storm in 2016 out of UConn and as been a force ever since she first stepped on the basketball court averaging 20 points and 8 rebounds per game for her career thus far.. Stewart’s Seattle Storm dominated in the 2020 playoffs winning over the Las Vegas Aces in a 3-0 sweep in the WNBA finals.

Nyjah Huston (American Skateboarder) Overview: Nyjah Huston is a five time skateboarding champion winning his last championship in 2019. Huston is also a 17 time medal winner at the Summer X-Games including 11 gold medals. Nyjah Huston has become the gold standard for skateboarding becoming the highest grossing professional skateboarder of all time.

5 Christian Taylor Vs 12 Sofia Kenin

Christian Taylor (American Track and Field) Overview: Christian Taylor has become one of the best track and field athlete’s of our time winning gold medals in the triple jump at each of the last two Olympics. Taylor also has four golds at the World Championships as well spanning over an 8 year period. Taylor is considering the early favorite to 3 peat at this years summer Olympics in Tokyo.

Sofia Kenin (American Tennis player) Overview: Sofia Kenin is fast becoming one of the best players in all of tennis currently ranking #4 in the World. Kenin won her grand slam title in 2020 Winning the Australian Open. Kenin also finished running up at last years French Open. Kenin has won five career titles overall and is still only 22 so the window for greatness is certainly ahead for Sofia.

4 Shaun White Vs 13 Dustin Poirier

Shaun White (American snowboarder) Overview: Shaun White when he came onto the scene in the 2003 X-Games made it cool to snowboard with his dominance in the Superpipe and slopestyle. The length on dominance for Shaun White is unprecedented as White won and Olympic Gold Medal in the 2018 Olympic games in PyeongChang which gives white 3 gold medals to go with his 15 Xgames gold medals which is an All Time Record.

Dustin Poirier (American MMA) Overview: Dustin Poirier is one of the best Mixed Marshal Arts fighters of this generation with an overall record of 27-6-1. Poirier is most recently know for winning a recent fight against MMA legend Conor McGregor. Poirier is the defending UFC Lightweight Champion and is still considered one of the best fighters in the UFC.

6 Steve Smith Vs 11 Kyle Busch

Steve Smith (Australian Cricketer) Overview: Steve Smith is considered the best batsmen in the world currently. Smith was the captain of the Australian team for four years and was banned from Cricketing in 2019. After a slump on Smith’s return Smith has regained his form of the last part of 2020 with a great run through the Tour of England in the summer of 2020.

Kyle Busch (American Nascar Driver) Overview: Kyle Busch has become arguably the best driver in Nascar with Cup Series Championships in 2015 and 2019. Busch also is the All time winner in the Xfinity Series with 97 total wins. The only accomplishment that is missing from Kyle Busch resume is a Daytona 500 finishing in 22nd at this years event.

3 Pernille Harder Vs 14 Alysa Liu

Pernille Harder (Danish soccer players) Overview: Pernille Harder is fast becoming one of the best soccer players in the world. Harder’s ability to score has become well known around the FA Women’s Super League. Harder has 141 goals in 167 games and is a big reason why she is the highest paid soccer player in the entire world.

Alysa Liu (American Figure Skating) Overview: Alysa Liu is only 16 years young but what Liu lacks in age she makes up for in dominance on the ice. Liu is a two time U.S National Champion with back to back titles in 2019-2020. Liu is expected to be a dominate force at the 2022 Olympics in Beijing.

7 Virat Kohli Vs 10 Brooks Koepka

Virat Kohli (Indian Cricketer) Overview: Virat Kohli is the current captain of the Indian national team. Among Indian Batsmen Kohli is considered the best batsmen in the World ever with his 937 Test Rating, his ODI rating of 911, and his T20I Rating of 897. In March 2019 Kohli became the second player to reach 5,000 IPL runs and is still overall regarded as one of the best batsmen in the World.

Brooks Koepka (American golfer) Overview: The four time major winner had a down year in 2020 dealing with hip and knee injuries. But in 2021 Koepka looks to be coming back into form with his recent victory at the Waste Management Open. When it comes to the big events in recent history. Nobody has been more of a big game golfer than Brooks Kopeka.

2 Stipe Miocic Vs 15 Naphessa Collier

Stipe Miocic (American MMA) Overview: Stipe Miocic is arguably the best fighting in all of the UFC currently. MIocic is a two time current heavyweight champion. Miocic at the age of 38 looks to continue his trend on dominance in a fight on March, 27th against Francis Ngannou. Miocic is 20-3 in his career.

Naphessa Collier (WNBA Lynx) Overview: Naphessa Collier is one of the best players in all of women’s basketball. Collier in 2020 averaged 16.1 points and 9 rebounds a game. Collier has only been in the league two seasons but could become the best in the game very soon if she continues her ascend.
